Basing their business principles on these two core factors has allowed Walmart to reach the top of the charts in Fortune Magazine’s 2010 Most Admired Companies survey. The company’s values and morals are basic in idea, but grand in scheme. Respect tops the list, as they realize this is an essential ingredient in every business relationship. Respect for everyone leads to better service and a better shopping experience for the customers, which is another of the company’s core values. Finally, Walmart ensures that their employees strive for excellence in every position.

Positions within the company are global and that shows in the range of positions Walmart offers, which includes hourly and salaried occupations.

Examples of Careers available at Walmart include:

• Store Greeter: greets each customer and welcomes them to the store, alerts customers of promotions, assists customers in locating merchandise

• Optometrist: provides vision testing, maintains patient records, maintains schedule of patient appointments, provides prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses

• Driver: Packs, sorts, loads and delivers merchandise to store locations

• Cashier: processes customer transactions, maintains cleanliness of front end, provides customer service, assists customers in locating merchandising, checks inventory, stocks merchandise

Gaining Employment with Walmart
To gain employment at Walmart a person can access the company’s website and peruse what seems to be a never-ending list of employment opportunities. Once the desired position is determined, applicants can complete a simple online application process, which includes providing personal information and uploading their resume. Also, they encourage people to enter their local Walmart, and apply for specific positions in person.

Walmart also holds recruiting events across the nation looking for employees. Many of their events are college or ethnic specific, which means they are by invitation only. However, many of their employees have found work through these avenues. The employees Walmart hires are people who recognize that every human being has merit and that the Walmart goal is to ensure those lives have an optimal level of meaning.
