According to a PC World 2011 article, job opportunities are up for full-time tech workers and IT freelancers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, IT jobs remain in demand nationwide. Those with portable and flexible IT skills, who have the ability to adapt to the changes in IT processes are highly valued by companies. Forester Research, forecasts global IT spending to grow by 8.7 percent in 2012.
Regarding the IT sector, experts forecast a demand for mobile app developers, usability experts, quality-assurance testers and IT security professionals. According to the Computing Technology Industry Association, people with knowledge and skills in both IT and healthcare are expected to be in demand.
The BLS forecasts a 9 percent employment growth for the telecommunications industry from 2008 to 2018, compared to an 11 percent growth for all industries combined. The BLS forecasts a 45 percent employment growth for the computer systems design and related services industry from 2008 to 2018, about four times as fast as the job growth for all industries combined.
