Varied, interesting, sometimes stressful work.

Homestead Studio Suites Hotel Guest Services, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Guest Services Job Description

This job was somewhat of a catch-all kind of job. You worked the front desk, and therefore did a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the following: answering phones, checking guests in/out, making reservations, helping guests with any needs, coordinating with housekeepers to make sure rooms got cleaned, etc.

Homestead Studio Suites Hotel Interview Questions

The interview was pretty standard. It was a fairly laid-back atmosphere, and they mostly asked the more traditional questions as far as experience, personality, etc. Nothing jumped out at me as being out of the ordinary or particularly challenging. Dress was business casual, and I can't think of anything I would have changed in the interview.

Salary and Benefits
Salary - Homestead Studio Suites Hotel, Guest Services is $9/Hourly.
401k, health insurance

Working Conditions
The atmosphere of the hotel is pretty laid back - the hotel is a long-term stay type hotel with affordable rates, so guests aren't expecting anything extravagant. Also, since you have a lot of long-term guests and/or recurring guests, you get to know them and can have a friendly relationship with a number of the guests, helping things to be more casual and laid-back. The managers are laid-back and understanding, and they were good at motivating employees to do a good job. The break room area left a bit to be desired - it was small and didn't have a lot of amenities, but otherwise, it was a great place to work.

Physical Requirements
There are stools to sit on at the desk, but you are on your feet quite a bit throughout the day, helping clients, getting things from the back, etc.

Other Homestead Studio Suites Hotel Job Information
This is a great company for students to work for - the hours are reasonable, and during the quieter days, you are allowed to do your homework at work, which is a great benefit for busy students who are looking for a fun, flexible job.
