Merchandiser Job Description

There is really no such thing as a 'typical' day for a merchandiser with Driveline Retail. The job involves various tasks in major retailers such as Dollar General, Family Dollar, Kmart, Wal-Mart, Publix, and Winn Dixie. Typical in-store assignments can be anything from simple placement of advertising or signage to a detailed, multi-hour team reset of an entire product category.

Driveline Retail Interview Questions

My initial interview was conducted via email. The interviewer focused on my level of retail and merchandising experience. There were also some theoretical questions about how I would handle certain in-store situations. A few days after the e-mail interview I received a follow-up phone call from the District Manager. We spoke a bit more in depth about the job requirements, then I was informed at the end of the call that I was being offered a position.

Salary and Benefits
Salary - Driveline Retail, Merchandiser is $8/Hourly.

Driveline Retail offers a 401k plan with a possible company match to all of their employees.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are generally good, but you must be flexible and able to quickly adapt to new situations. Since much of the work is done in major retail stores, a positive and customer-focused attitude is a big plus. As for the company management, the first-level District Managers that you will be dealing with provide adequate support and seem to have your best interest in mind.

Physical Requirements

This job sometimes involves a lot of time on your feet, especially during major category resets. Heavy lifting may be involved, mostly in the case of shelf movement.
