In-depth orientation is where all new Wal-Mart associates begin.  This is the beginning of being a part of the Wal-Mart family.  This starts out by putting the new associate in the role of the customer.  This helps them understand customer expectations and what they can do to help the customer.

The next phase of orientation is to learn how Wal-Mart is unique in the retail industry.  Exploring Wal-Mart’s culture and history, the store work environment, expectations and the impact we have on customers, associates and communities.

Leaders Out In Front (LOIF) is a new management training program open to all salaried Wal-Mart Stores USA field associates (Assistant Managers, Co-Managers, Store Managers and Market Managers).

LOIF was designed on the principle of continuous improvement through learning and provides a variety of development opportunities throughout various stages of a manager’s career.

The AIM (Associate Investment Model) Toolkit allows associates, from new hires to seasoned buyers, to reference their job descriptions, collect competency information, review annual skills inventories, and gather feedback from their supervisors to build individual Development Plans.  This is through Merchant Development which provides professional development through competency-based learning solutions.  Merchant Development offers over 50 courses within its curriculum.

Training and development is not a one-time thing at Wal-Mart.  It’s a continual part of an associate’s life.   

Wal-Mart also has over 4,000 Pharmacy locations and rapidly growing which means they are always looking for qualified Pharmacists.

Optometry opportunities also exist at Wal-Mart.  Wal-Mart doctor partners have the opportunity to run their own practice.  With Wal-Mart’s constant growth and expansion they are always looking for talented doctors.
