Background Coca Cola InformationA career working for Coca Cola
In 1886, pharmacist Dr. John Stith Pemberton created Coca Cola. The name was sparked not out of ingenuity or by a creative miracle; rather, Dr. John Stith Pemberton created the name Coca Cola because he enjoyed the way two calligraphic Cs looked next to each other. Shortly before his death, he sold the company to Asa Candler who started branding the soda pop similarly to the advertising today. He took out a full-page ad in the paper that spoke of Coca Cola being, “Delicious. Invigorating. Refreshing. Exhilarating.” Those ideas have become global as Coca Cola refreshes over 200 countries with 450 different brands and products. The mission is simple, yet elegant, “provide a moment of refreshment for a very small amount of money -- a billion times a day.”

Positions with Coca Cola
This global approach to business has created employment opportunities all across the world. Each bottling plant has its own set of employees for almost every position in the company. Here are two of the most commonly advertised Coca Cola Careers available and the associate responsibilities:

• Account Manager: creates each work order for different locations, takes inbound calls from prospective clients, makes outbound calls to prospective clients, logs accounts, issues work orders to merchandisers

• Merchandiser: organizes work orders, sorts product for delivery, loads and delivers product, maintains in-person client relationships

These positions generally filter into management and upper management positions within the company. Coca Cola makes a point to hire from within, and promote their employees’ greatness, rather than resort to outsourcing.
