A Typical Day as a Bank EmployeeBank Jobs

I currently work in an office for a major bank in the United States performing database mining and relationship creation between clients. I help establish relationships between guarantors/owners of businesses and the businesses they are associated with to help streamline the marketing to those people and businesses.

Everyday, I start off fairly eager to go to work because I enjoy my position and the people I work with. I usually find myself happy to be walking into the place where I work because I know that the banking industry has not been doing so well and I am thankful for every day that I have a job in this area of work.

My typical daily activities revolve around the computer, as I help consolidate client databases in order to form an easy-to-read layout of client relationships. This helps the marketing department understand what products/services certain businesses use and also what the bank might be able to offer to the owners/guarantors.

Most of my work is done online trying to find information about small businesses so that we can add them to our database and potentially add them as customers. It is somewhat of a tedious job that can get quite repetitive, but I still enjoy knowing that I am helping to establish more of a foothold for the company I am working for in terms of client numbers. I am usually not contacted for abnormal jobs and the like because my position entails that I work with millions of clients that the bank has.

Since I am able to do my work using the internet, I am sometimes able to take my work home with me and I will put in some time on the weekends if I find myself in the mood. One interesting thing about using the internet, which was quite surprising to me, is the amount of information you can find out about people on the internet as far as addresses, telephone numbers, businesses they own, etc. I have even found my own information on the internet, and my affiliation with the bank I work at was listed as well.

It wasn't necessarily a scary revelation, but it made me understand that not much is hidden on the internet. Quite simply, I enjoy my position at the bank I work at and I would not switch companies or even the area of work I am in. I hope to advance to a management position in the upcoming years with hard work and dedication to my position. It is a daunting job market nowadays, and instead of it making me unsure about my ability to get a job elsewhere, it makes me value my job more than I have before.
