Teaching is a Calling, Not a Career
For some people the very thought of a job as a teacher is dreadful. Many are still plagued with thoughts that teachers are underpaid and all of those kids would simply drive a person crazy.
The truth is that is does take a very special type of person to be an educator. Being a teacher is a personal choice and one that is very fulfilling. Most people that a convicted to the field of education do not look at it as a job but rather a calling. Teaching is something that a person can take pride in, an area where they can help to lay a future foundation for growth and really make an impact in the lives of others.

There is really no other profession quite like teaching as it allows you to play many roles such as that of a role model, a communicator, a decision maker, a counselor, a manager, and even a surrogate parent many times. Much of this is not a learned skill but rather a passion that is deep inside you. Over time, your passion and drive will be combined with a lot of practice that will give you the skills that are needed to be an excellent teacher and one that will make a difference in the shaping and lives of all the children that you encounter.
No doubt, being a teacher does require some sacrifice but for most who love what they do it is something that they can live with. Most people that decide to become teachers have a love of learning, they strive for excellence, and they are very inspired. These are usually traits and gifts that they want to share and pass along.
