Hey, Walmart is good pay for a college student.

Location

 Burlington, Wisconsin

Job Description

My job basically required me to provide good customer service, run a cash register, and stock merchandise. I was also required to display merchandise in an neat manner, so that it looked good for the customers and improved store cleanliness.

Salary

Basically, I made $8.25 an hour after 2 raises, and I did not get any benefits due to the fact that I was only a part time employee. The benefits offered by Walmart were pretty basic, they offered health insurance as well as life insurance, and the premiums were paid for out of paychecks instead of through separate bills. The company had pay grades for each department, and the pay was good for part-time people looking for a temporary job or people working through college. Basically, there were really no retirement opportunities, as Walmart is a big-box retailer.

Working ConditionsThe working conditions were just fine, the store temperature was good and I wasn't required to do a lot of hard labor, just basic lifting. Sometimes there were problems with managers treating the employees as "lesser beings" but that was about it.
Physical RequirementsBasically, we were just required to do basic lifting, anywhere from 0-25 pounds, and for heavier lifting we could use help from other associates. The physical requirements weren't too demanding.
Interview InformationThe interview was pretty standard, they just asked the typical questions, such as why you feel you would be good for the company, what are your strengths and weaknesses, and any prior job experiences that may help. There were also some hypothetical situations given and I had to answer for them to find out if I would be a good fit.
